TION 1
GENERAL INFORMATION
The System Administration Terminal (SAT) program is a Windows application that
allows the user to easily program and configure many features of the Electra Elite IPK
and Electra Elite 48/192 systems from most any personal computer.
SEC
TION 2
SAT SOFTWARE OVERVIEW
The SAT software allows programming and configuring the Electra Elite IPK system
as well as an Electra Elite 48/192 system (using Series 1000~Series 8000). The
technician only needs this single SAT version installed on their laptop PC to
communicate with either of the KTS systems. SAT makes programming fast and
easy, reducing the overall customizing time to a minimum.
Simply connect the PC (with SAT installed) to the KTS using one of these methods:
Direct connection
Remote connection (via external modem or built-in modem)
LAN/WAN connection
SAT allows all system data to be configured off-line. When programming and
configuration are complete, the data can be uploaded to the main processor. For
system backup, SAT allows the customer's database data to be downloaded to a disk
for safe keeping.

PC to KSU Communication
Methods
Chapter 3
___________________________________________________________________________________
There are several ways that a PC can communicate with the Electra Elite 48/192 or
the Elite IPK systems.
r
Direct Connect (Serial Cable)
r
Remote Connection (Built on Modem on the MIFM)
r
Remote Connection (External Modem)
r
LAN/WAN Connection

Note: A modem in the PC or an external modem used must be MNP Class 5.
SEC
TION 1
DIRECT CONNECT
For Direct Connection, a Male straight cable is required. The Electra Elite 48/192
KSU has a Female 25-pin connector on the side of the KSU while the Electra Elite
IPK KSU has a Female 9-pin connector on the side of the KSU. Most personal
computers have a Male 9-pin connector for COM ports.

TION 2
REMOTE CONNECTION (BUILT-IN MODEM UNIT)
The MIFM Modem Unit must be installed on the MIFM card for proper operation. The
MIFM must be installed in Slot 1 or Slot 2 of the basic cabinet in the Elite 192 or the
Elite IPK, and in Slot 2 of the Elite 48. Programming for the MIFM Modem Unit, via
handset programming, uses Memory Block 1-8-38.
The modem must be assigned a valid extension number of the system's numbering
plan. For example, if station numbers are 500's the modem's number must also be in
the 500's range. There are several ways that the built-in modem unit can be
contacted: via DID to the modem extension, a trunk can be DIT'ed to the modem
extension, or a station or attendant can blind transfer the call to the modem extension.

Telco
Lines
Figure 3-2 Remote Connection (Built-in Modem) Example
SEC
TION 3
REMOTE CONNECTION (EXTERNAL MODEM)
When an external modem is used, a Telco line from Telco can be connected to a SLI
port from the Elite 48/192, or the Electra Elite IPK can be connected to the external
modem. The Null Modem adapter must be used when an external modem is
connected to the Elite 48/192 or Elite IPK. The null modem adapter is provided with
each MIFM ETU.
There are several ways that the external modem unit can be contacted when an SLT
port on the system is used to provide dial tone: via DID to the SLT's modem
extension, a trunk can be DIT'ed to the modem extension, or a station or attendant
can blind transfer the call to the modem extension.
A 25-pin male to 25-pin male straight cable is used when connecting an external
modem to the Elite 48/192. A 9-pin male to 25-pin male is used when connecting an
external modem to the Electra Elite IPK.

Operation:
Copy feature of SAT by pressing F3, clicking on the Copy
Icon, or clicking on the Edit Menu and choosing "Copy".
Make sure that MB 4-29 is highlighted. Make sure that port
01 is marked with "F". This represents that copying is
FROM that port. Make sure that all of the other ports you
want to copy MB 4-29 to are marked with "T".
In this example we will be marking ports 02~120 with "T".
Click the "Copy" button, and now MB 4-29 has been copied
from port 01 to ports 02~120.

Swap Operation
Example Scenario:
A customer has two users that have swapped offices. The

keys using two methods:
1. Sequential Assignment will maximize the number of
CAP keys assigned by assigning as many keys per
block to each station, keeping each individual station's
keys within the same block.
2. CAP Block to Port Assignment will assign each station
its CAP keys from a different CAP Block. Choose the
method you wish to use, and select the TO and FROM
assignments for each station port that will have CAP
keys assigned. The Station to Call Appearance Block
Assignment (MB 4-43) will also be correctly assigned for
you.

MOVING A CARD
Purpose:
To keep all related settings when a card is moved from one slot to another slot. For
example, when a user moves an ESI8 card from slot 1 to slot 5, then the data in
MB 7-02, 1-2-08, 2-06, 4-xx will remain intact.
It is possible, when a card is moved around, some settings are reset to default values.
Also if you delete a card, in previous version of SAT, some settings will be reset to
default values.
Operation:
Point your mouse to a card in a cabinet, press the left mouse button, move and drop
this card to a new slot.

DO NOT release the left mouse button when you see a "trash bin" . Releasing the left mouse
button when the trash bin appears means "deleting" a card.
SEC
TION 2
REPLACING A CARD
Purpose:
To keep all related settings when a card is replaced with a card of the same type.
For example, when a user drags an ESIB16 and drops it over an ESI8 in a cabinet,
the first 8 ports of data in MB 7-02, 1-2-08, 2-06, 4-xx will remain intact. Data related
to the last 8 ports will take default values.
The following cards in each category are of the same type:
r
Category 1 - Cards with TEL port type ESI and ESIB
r
Category 2 - Cards with SLT port type SLI and OPX
r
Category 3 - Cards with CO port type COI and COID
r
Category 4 - DTI cards DTI 4, DTI 8, DTI 12~DTI 24
r
Category 5 - PRT cards PRT 4, PRT 8, PRT 12~PRT24
A Card not listed in any of the categories above has its own category by itself.
Operation:
Select a card in the "card shelf", drag it over an existing card in a cabinet, and drop it
in by releasing the mouse button.
