1 - Pre-Upgrade Information Gathering
Before you begin the upgrade procedure, perform the following steps.
1. Back the system up. This can be done by creating a backup folder on the system and copying
the contents of the VM System Files folder into the backup folder. DO NOT put the backup
folder in the VM System Files folder. If the system has been operating for quite some time, you
may choose to not back up the deleted messages folder. The Pre Recorded Names folder and
the logging folder are also large folders that are not necessary to back up and will reduce the
time it takes to back up the system.
2. Locate a Windows 2000 Professional CD, this CD shipped with the unit when it was purchased.
The CD will be required for loading Microsoft Internet Information Services if it is not already
installed.

After you've upgraded the system, you need to verify the tone table for your telephone system and select
the system language. Since each of these steps is performed from the Administrative interface, you
I&M
must first log into the system. After you've made these changes, you should restart the system.

Logging Into the Admin Interface
To display the system administration screens:
Double-click the Admin icon on the desktop.

The Login screen appears.

Enter 3 in the Level field and installer in the Password field and click OK. When you log
in to the system, the Main Menu appears.

Verify PBX Tone Table
From the Main Menu, select System > PBX. Verify that the tone table that is selected exists
by pressing the "Select Tone Table" browse button. If it does not exist, blank the field out
and save the settings. You may want to run the Intel/Dialogic PBXpert program and create
a tone table for your telephone system. Once you create the tone table, copy it to the VM
System Files\PBXTONES folder and use the Admin program to select it as the active tone
file. This is only necessary if the system does not recognize dial tone, busy, or ring back.

Setting up Language
From the Main Menu, select Setup > Company. In the Language field, select the
appropriate language from the drop-down list and click Save. NOTE: If you do not select
the language and save it, the system will not be able to play the system prompts and calls
will be disconnected.
I&M

Restart the System
Close the Admin program and verify the Voice Mail Engine is not running. Restart the
system to begin processing calls again.
